Team You

by Lora Starling | Feb 18, 2025 | ARTICLE, Future Magnets, Logo truths

In the plethora of sports that we have engaged in for thousands of years, the games both unite and divide us, depending on the team we support.

If we don’t unite as one ‘team human’ then we may lose more than a game.

What has this got to do with the logos I encourage people to design to attract the life they want? Logos express and deliver powerfully our intentions, and they, like ball games, unite and divide us. If the logos we designed were to be embedded with an intention to unite us in a single positive cause, one beyond our own personal gratification and for a better future for our planet, that would a start in creating the change we need.

Our tribal instinct is strong. We are so keen to be part of a team that it often isolates us from others whether that is on race, wealth status, nationality, gender, brands…where do I stop. What if we changed our minds, after all they are OUR minds to change, and envisage a world with one race, the human race, that champions the expression of each individual expressing their soul’s purpose.

Logos are effective designs to display our visions; they are available to each individual. A combination of colours, words and symbols each identifies a facet of the future we want. And in a world overrun with social media it is easy to share our vision in this way. But before beginning to design a logo to share and engage like-minded individuals, first connect with your best purpose, the one you were born to express. When we hold this firmly in our intention as we design, we are more likely to create a logo that resonates with the frequency to attract those who are also individually aligned with their own truth.

There is a subtle but huge difference in the intention of the old logo way ‘Follow me I have the answers and the promises (make me rich, satisfy my ego), and the new way (hey this is me, are you there? I see you). The dynamics are quite different. The latter invites mutually beneficial collaboration, the former, vicious competitiveness.

I’m for team Earth. Connect with Team You, design your own logo, choose your own elements, deliver your own, unique intention for the world you want to see evolve.

I talk a lot about the value of space as a place to explore the new. Whether that is the space between letters, buildings or on a stage it is the unencumbered dimension where we can create our imprint and add value to the powerful, often unconscious effect of our actions.

I attended a Leadership retreat with Louise Mahler a while ago. Louise coaches leaders, often women, to create and present clear statements so they become heard; the space they move in is a vital part in creating a successful presentation. I am now aware of the potential to reach an audience effectively so they become more fully engaged in what we say. (I am, subsequently, and with this new found knowledge, pretty appalled at the standard of most presentations.)

It’s not hard to distil and learn Louise’s techniques for effectively reaching an audience, and with practice we can employ them effectively. I found the most memorable, and perhaps the most relevant, was learning to manage space effectively. From considering the distance between our hands to nominating specific places to stand and deliver selected subject matter, we can fully utilise the three-dimensional space to strategically fill with our designated intentions. Engaging selected movement and gestures, we are able to take the members of our audience on a combined verbal and visual journey so the subject matter reaches beyond their ears into their eyes to triggers their interest. When our bodies and minds unite in a single purpose we can create anew.

By becoming conscious of our space, how we move in it and how we fill it, we can step into the unformed potential. The distance between the words we speak and the letters we write add to the effectiveness of our message well beyond the subject matter itself.

Off stage, how does Louise define her own space in the world? Her logo in tomato sauce red focusses boldly on DR; the space between these two letters is easy to manage. Her name is aligned, small and grey below.

Perhaps like the other notable ‘doctor’ Louise is creating her own Tardis on stage and hopefully it will take us to the dimensions we desire.

Of course we need to be clear on our message and what we want to create, but the way we choose to move through life including our awareness and management of space, the unformed, is how we evolve into the new. Everything else is taken up.

I expand more on the value of space consideration in my course Future Magnets: Identify and create the life you want. Find out how you could change your life here: https://bit.ly/4ayC3rv
