The Writer

The Writer believes that writing is like wandering in the wilderness searching for berry trees. We may come across one or we may find a whole copse. Other fruit-bearing trees may distract us, but we need to find the berries that will sustain our writing alone. How do we find the right tree? Well, we keep ourselves just a little hungry all the time, and this hunger is a powerful motivator.

Our writing comes through us and us alone. Our inspiration is prompted and nourished by outside sources, from the divine in heaven to the earth that grounds us and from the experiences that our surroundings present to us. We are the gatherer and the filter. We must review these connections regularly and remember to keep our filter clean to avoid writers’ block.

When the Writer visits you, it might be as simple as taking in something fresh or attending more to your own needs. Look to your tools of inspiration; special pens, candles, flowers, and fur have all helped successful authors.

The Writer says, ‘If you need me, call on me. Use me as a symbol to guide your direction. See me placed on any part that feels blocked. Walk with me. Play. Be.’
