The Listener
The Listener is responsible for what we hear. We are so bombarded with noise in our lives – especially in cities, where most of us live – we forget to listen out for the things that really matter. We simply block off the everyday rabble. If we learn to filter through the layers, we hear the song of a bird, the rustle of leaves, and the laugh of a child. These are all sounds that can lift our spirits.
By shifting our capacity for hearing we can open to the layers of sound vibration surrounding us. We can broaden our consciousness and increase our awareness of that which is closest, while taking into account the bigger picture.
What are you shutting off from hearing or what do you need to shut off? We often hear the mosquito in our ear, but how long is it since you heard the rhythm of the universe? Perhaps there is a friend who needs to be heard. When was the last time that you really sat and listened to someone speak, without interrupting or competing?
