Loch Meall Dheirgidh

High up, cradled by ancient ice age formed peaks, this Scottish loch, in Argay, appears as still, cupped indigo liquid. No wind could sound in the non-existent trees but the wavelets it blew broke the silence as they met the shore. These two elements became further focused when a blue dragonfly appeared. Believed to inhabit the two realms of water and air, they hover in the moment so that we may go deeper to gain a sense of self.

Loch Meall Dheirgidh (pronounced muldairigy) takes its name from the mountain that oversees it. It is fed simply by a small burn and relieved by another. A resting place between these trickles, it is hidden by its high location, the only flat surface in an undulating terrain.

This loch reveals that which is hidden within the stillness of our minds. We can reach this place by the stirring of our inner space allowing that, which has been forgotten, to become visible. In this space we are held for a time by grace and calm. It is the resting place between our thoughts and actions. As the thoughts flow in, we stay a while and allow them to flow out as actions. When they leave it will be with gained clarity and understanding in our future.
